Are you fucking kidding me!? Anybody who knows me personally knows how much I hate this kind of shit. I haven’t gone on a tangent in a long time. I am long overdue. An Elementary school in Walpole MA won’t be having its traditional Halloween parade this year & Halloween is now “black & orange” spirit day.
“The costume parade is out of our ordinary routine and can be difficult for many students. Also, the parade is not inclusive of all the students and it is our goal each and every day to ensure all student’s individual differences are respected.” Furthermore, “the school will have a Halloween party after school hours. But the school says Halloween itself will be a “black and orange” spirit day.” (source)
I can’t take this kind of behavior anymore. Who did we offend now? Are parents afraid their child will get shamed if they can’t afford to buy them a good enough costume? This is Walpole MA, not Beverly Hills CA! Hell, throw a shitty hoddie on & BAM! you’re Mark Zuckerberg.
What next!? Want to try banning trick or treating & consider it distributing goods without a permit!? I’ll bet some idiot has tried.
This was probably due to a dumbass politician who was made fun of as a child for not dressing up on Halloween. Also, if the parade is (was) an annual event, how is it out of your “ordinary routine”? Also, what the hell “differences” are they talking about in that statement? Does the town feel like they are offending non Pegan & Wiccan practitioners?
Even if I could get past all that, I will never refer to Halloween as “black & orange” spirit day. Hell, many places have already taken away “Merry Christmas” & replaced it with “Happy Holidays” Now they want to take Halloween too! Seriously, why change this? Let the kids have their fun!
