Gender reveal parties have become a popular trend where expected parents gather a bunch of friends & family to reveal the sex of their baby. Typically, it’s done by cutting a cake to reveal blue or pink, but since we now live in an age where some people try to take things to an extreme, it’s starting to get ridiculous. People have actually died. I can’t believe I’m actually writing about this. Some of these have gone so wrong that they have actually sparked wildfires in Arizona, caused a plane crash after dumping 350 gallons of pink water, & recently a person died when a family built a pipe bomb as part of a gender reveal.
Luckily, the mother to be wasn’t hurt in any of these cases. I know these people are the minority, but I’m seriously baffled as to why these extreme cases are on the rise. Is this due to the fact that we now live in an age of social media where everyone is trying to one up the next person? If so, this makes the whole thing both ridiculously sad & annoying. You should be more focused & happy about the fact that you’re about to bring a new family member into the world, & less focused on how cool you’ll look on social media telling everyone about it.
