Over the years, I have noticed an uptick in the number of articles regarding the search for intelligent life in space. Some “experts” claim that letting an advanced E.T. civilization know our location could lead to our demise. This is why I think that idea is bullshit.
Personally, I think we have been visited for centuries. That’s just my opinion. For the sake of this article, lets assume we haven’t though.
Steven Hawking is one of many who are against trying to contact intelligent E.T. life. “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet,” Hawking said in 2010. He has also compared meeting aliens to Christopher Columbus meeting Native Americans: “That didn’t turn out so well.” He has a point. Although, I believe it doesn’t matter what messages we beam into space with our primitive radio waves & dishes. If they have the technology to visit & attack us, they probably have a more sophisticated way of detecting us too. They will simply find us because they did. It won’t be because we led them to our doorstep. If they exist, they know about us and would have destroyed us already if they wanted to.
I also think if an E.T. civilization is capable of reaching us, they’re probably peaceful. This is simply because they’ve managed to become so ridiculously advanced without killing each other & needing to start over. “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” – Albert Einstein. Just look at the mess we live in! With each new technological advancement some asshole is thinking of a way to create a weapon out of it for profit. We also have tons of greed & corruption. With each passing year, we face an increasing risk of bombing ourselves back to the stone age. An advanced E.T. intelligence would have managed to put all that shit behind them to develop that level of technology.
On the flip side, I’ve also said over and over again, if aliens are going to attack us, it won’t go down the way Hollywood likes to depict. They won’t blow shit up and start shooting laser guns all over the place. That wouldn’t end the human race. Sure, billions of people will die, but a complete extension? It would be a waist of their time and resources to search out every last human on earth. More than likely they would develop some type of pathogen & release it into the air. It would be a much cleaner and quicker method.
This wouldn’t happen!
If official contact is ever made, the media & government would assume they are hostile. Just look at what our media does. It’s a sea of negativity. The news would probably start freaking everybody out. It’s also in our nature to fear what we don’t know. While the concept of an alien attack might be entertaining in books or films, I just don’t find it realistic.
