Since it’s illegal, I get the part about escort services or prostitution. However, who the hell do these lawmakers think they are by restricting porn itself? Even if watching porn isn’t your thing, the government should have NO SAY in this. They are purposing a $20 fee per system to unblock, but that’s not the point. If we allow lawmakers to start making such restrictions in the first place, it can always be a stepping stone to something bigger someday. What’s next? Twenty years from now will they want to block internet access to outside media outlets? Last I checked we weren’t a Totalitarian government. This is scary shit!
On a lighter note, How the hell would this work if the bill actually passes? Since this bill purposes computers “bought” in South Carolina & not just computers within the boundaries of South Carolina, that means your internet provider would have nothing to do with this & it’s the computer itself. You could just buy your computer in another state. It also means that you could buy a used “South Carolina” version computer that somehow made its way to another state! If that’s the case, they better put a “manufactured for the state of South Carolina” label on the damn box? I wouldn’t want one of these damn computers to reach my state only to find out the hard way I can’t access pornhub. One thing is for sure, computer sales in South Carolina will take a hit.
