I have always wondered how often children eat these things. Well, now we have an answer.
A two year study published in the journal of Pediatrics revealed the following information.
– Data reveal that laundry packets are more toxic than other detergents.
– Calls to poison control centers increased 17%, an analysis shows.
-More than 22,000 children were exposed to laundry detergent packets in a two-year period.
You can’t blame kids for eating these things. After all, they are tiny and colorful. We all know small children will stick almost anything in their mouth. Also, just take a look at the damn packaging on some of these detergents! The colors are so bright and eye popping. It looks like a children’s show will magically bust out of the box when you open it.
With fewer and fewer parents paying attention to their kids these days, I’m actually surprised these numbers aren’t higher. (source)
