With the countless amount of apps and websites that pull people into the dating world, it was only a matter of time before something like this emerged. Smell Dating aims to match people through scent. On the surface it doesn’t sound like a bad idea. After-all, smell is a very powerful sense. It triggers memories and people can become attracted to a person from the pheromones they give off. I get it. Then, I read about how this is conducted.

Ok, you really want to sniff that? Had it on under my gym clothes for three days. That will turn you on?
So, according to the website, they send you a t-shirt. You wear the shirt for three days and three nights without deodorant. You mail the shirt back in a prepaid envelope. You get samples to smell of other people who will be getting your sample. Then, if you both mutually like each others scent, BAM! A connection is made.
Wait, back up a second. “You wear the shirt for three days and three nights without deodorant.” Three days!? Are people actually comfortable doing that? Most people have jobs. If I don’t have the patience to do this during a long weekend, should I wear this shirt under my work clothes? Even then, no woman would be turned on by the stench of my overwhelmingly ripe body odor after three full days that include a couple trips to the gym. It just won’t happen.
I think its cool that people are trying to find new ways to connect. I just don’t want to compromise my personal hygiene in the process and watch the paint peel off the walls around me as I stink up a shirt. (source)
